Pitt St Mall renovations 2

I can only assume that the shambles shown here are examples of pre financial crisis architectural folly. There does not seem to be a coherent theme between the separate buildings and an aggressive hodge podge has resulted. After over 2 years of work in the Mall and still not finished, the project has failed to connect with time, place and people. 

The atmosphere of the Market & Pitt St corner has been ruined:

The full ugliness of the Market St end of the Mall, devoid of soul and character, a jangling, glaring mish mash of designs and materials, all very bad, is revealed in the next post. Note the complete abscence of street fronting coffee shops.
