Return of the native

The heat wave returned on New Year's Day and so did the dehydrated bird. Why just that one?

This time I put out some water in a plastic tray on the ledge, then sprayed water toward and around the area. The bird picked up the smell of the water quickly. After a brief internal struggle it came onto the ledge and quickly drank its fill at one end of the tray while I tried not to disturb it with camera clicks and movements of the blinds and so on. I was lucky to get even these images.

Very thirsty, very skittish, with beady eye!
The tray of water is up ahead, obscured by the vegetation. It has already had a massive drink.
Leaping to a nearby branch, me and camera in discreet pursuit, it excitedly bobbed up and down and screamed for a few seconds, perhaps thanking me, perhaps berating me, then flew off.
And that was that.
