Look what's atop the Metro


It is nervous and doesn't hang around long.

This is a pied magpie or currawong. Natty, as ravenous in beak and claw as its cousins, but an entirely different disposition. A more agitated sort of bird, far easily spooked than the others. Pieds seem to mount a big challenge every so often for the currawongs territory. Their brief reign on stolen currawong territory down along Victoria St a couple of years ago is well documented.
